Legislative Update:
The State of Florida enacted FS 768.0706 in January 2025 – The Attorney General of Florida REQUIRES two things of apartment, condo and multifamily property managers and owners:

The “owner or principal operator” must TRAIN their employees on the concepts of multifamily residential Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (specifically within 60 days of his/her date of hire).

Have a crime prevention through environmental design (CPTED) assessment completed by a Florida Attorney General’s Crime Prevention Training Institute of the Department of Legal Affairs certified Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design Practitioner.
Completion of these two acts offer a “Safe Harbor” and a presumption against liability in connection with criminal acts that occur on the premises.
